Humboldt Poetry Night with A Reason to Listen

Therese_performing.jpgThe first Thursday of every month, every seat is filled at the Siren's Song Tavern with people who want to listen to poetry. The event is hosted by A Reason to Listen poetry collective. Co-founders Vanessa Vrtiak and Therese FitzMaurice alternately M.C. with interjections of deviance and wisdom. DJ Goldilocks spins old school funk and conscious hip-hop keeping the room lively, while an artist paints a vibrant scene behind the poets. Eileen McGee documents the night, which airs on Access Humboldt, and fifteen hopeful performers are chosen randomly at 7:20 sharp. Join us to celebrate our deeply held belief that Every Voice is a Reason to Listen.
